Kultrab Art Laboratory

At the beginning of our journey, many stores and festivals avoided us, venues and clubs refused to work with us, we constantly faced self-censorship and a fear of “what if”. Under these conditions, we invented and tested new mechanics for supporting NGOs and independent projects based on our own experience. We explored how business can be social and created media projects aimed at highlighting the problems of vulnerable groups.

2021 has become a year of struggle for everyone. A struggle for the right to do what we believe in and deem necessary regardless of circumstances. In August, the Kultrab team left Russia: Alina Muzychenko and Egor Eremeev – co-founders, lead designer Zhenya Egereva, art director Sasha Chayka, and producer Roma Daragan. All this time we have been developing a new project, within which we invited two young designers: Sonya Filina and Emelya Shirikov.

Very soon we will start telling more about Kultrab 2.0, but for now, on our birthday, we want to share a five-minute video made by Sasha Chayka from cheerful and not so cheerful pieces of our life shot on an iPhone.

Right now our store is operating as a marketplace, where you can buy New Year’s gifts and support independent projects and non-profit organizations that do what the state cannot and does not want to do.

A huge thank you to our community, all subscribers, donors, and friends, everyone who has supported us throughout all four years and continues to do so. Without you, there would be no Kultrab. We value and thank you very much.

Right now we are in Istanbul, outside the window, in the neighboring club, crappy rock music is playing. For five days we have hardly left the house, we work a lot and really miss the snow.

Hugs. Your Kultrab.
